José Alvarado

José is a painter who seeks to transcend his audience into the sublime through “a higher form of consciousness of the unknown.” Without logic and reason, his works explore how sensation “travels through the framework of our perception to a state of boundlessness.”

José’s experience with sensation has been derived from the vast landscapes of the Midwest where he was raised. His engineering design background influenced the rhythm of his work early in his career. Over time, José’s work “evolved into something like a symphony where different experiences may take center stage or become complementary in terms of composition, colors and form.”

He has been exhibited in Wichita, KS, and Baltimore, MD.

José earned his Bachelor of Arts from Wichita State University in Wichita, KS, and his Master in Fine Arts from the Maryland Institute College of Art in Baltimore, MD.
