1968-2024. It is with deep sorrow and shock that the firm announces the death of our esteemed partner and friend, Ken Aneckstein, on August 4, 2024.

Ken leaves behind a legacy of legal excellence, dedication and work ethic that will be profoundly missed. Ken joined the firm in 2018 contributing significantly to the success of our Trusts & Estates, Business and Real Estate practice groups.  While Ken is best known for the very serious nature of his practice and his diligence in his work, Ken will also be remembered for being an excellent trusted advisor and for his quick wit.  Ken will be dearly missed.

Ken focused his practice in estate planning for high net worth individuals and families and owners of closely held businesses and on the administration of large and complex estates. Ken represented multiple business owners and real estate developers which enabled him to take a holistic approach in guiding these clients to structure family holdings to protect family wealth and to efficiently handle tax structures.

To that end, Ken’s practice spanned trusts and estates, business, tax, and real estate legal needs.   He advised clients on all aspects of tax planning, business succession planning, asset protection and management strategies.

Ken also often served as outside counsel to corporate fiduciaries.

His estate planning clients included multigenerational families, real estate developers, owners of mid-market closely held businesses, executives of publicly traded companies, physicians and automotive dealers. He successfully handled numerous estate and gift tax audits. He also provided advice to fiduciaries regarding the administration of trusts and decedent’s estates and served as outside counsel to a national individual retirement account custodian.

Ken joined the adjunct faculty at the University of Maryland School of Law and taught Estates and Trusts and Estate Planning from 2002-2012.

Prior to practicing law, Kenn clerked for the Hon. Glenn T. Harrell, Jr., Associate Judge of the Maryland Court of Special Appeals.
