Speakers

Danielle S. Zoller, Esq.

Danielle is Chair of the Firm's Real Estate Department and a member in the Health Care, Private Client Services, and Business Law Practices. She represents clients throughout the state and regionally in matters involving the acquisition, sale, financing, construction, leasing, management, and development of commercial and residential real estate. Her clients include developers, lenders and investors, as well as condominium associations, homeowners associations and residential property owners. Danielle’s experience includes contract drafting and negotiation; closings and settlements; lease preparation and review for landlords and tenants; landlord/tenant disputes; real estate title review; financing transactions for both lenders and borrowers; real estate covenants and easements; condominium conversions; and matters relating to condominiums, homeowners associations and other multi-family properties. She works with business owners, management companies, and property owners to advance and protect their interests. 

Douglas T. Coats, Esq.

Doug is Chair of Gordon Feinblatt's Tax Practice and has significant experience in the planning and structuring of sophisticated business and tax transactions for companies, including corporations and flow-through entities (including LLPs, LLCs and S corporations). He has advised and represented clients in connection with the sale of their companies, both asset and equity transactions, and has represented clients in business acquisitions. Doug advises clients of all sizes with respect to various types of tax matters. Doug has also represented both individual and business taxpayers in matters before the Internal Revenue Service and state taxing authorities.

Katherine Pinkard

As the President of Pinkard Properties, Ms. Pinkard oversees the daily operations of the certified woman-owned commercial real estate firm, providing property management, asset management, development, and consulting services to private and public-sector clients. She has worked with clients ranging from local owners and developers to publicly-traded REITs and State agencies to manage and consult on an array of complex development projects, such as the adaptive reuse of urban sites, ground-up greenfield development, and public-private partnerships. Ms. Pinkard has a particular passion for blockchain technology and is currently developing a blockchain-based platform for the commercial real estate industry. Ms. Pinkard has written and spoken on the subject for real estate trade organizations and tech industry groups, offering a unique voice to encourage blockchain adoption by the business community.

Andrew Wichmann, Esq.

Andrew is an intellectual property lawyer who enjoys the technical rigor of patent prosecution while also embracing the world of art and design. His clients have included startups and early stage companies as well as members of the Fortune 100. Andrew has experience in a range of technical fields, including artificial neural networks, integrated circuits, FinTech, medical devices, wearables, and EdTech. Andrew was recently invited to testify before the Maryland Financial Consumer Protection Commission about cryptocurrency and blockchain technologies and how these technologies impact the State of Maryland. The non-technical side of Andrew’s practice includes the protection of designs and other creative works through the prosecution of design patents, trademark and trade dress rights, and copyright registrations. Andrew frequently counsels early stage companies emerging from universities and government research labs on IP licensing and patenting strategies.

William D. Shaughnessy, Jr., Esq.

With over three decades of experience, Bill is active in the legal practice areas of Business, Energy & Environmental, Financial Services, Real Estate and Securities. However, his specialty lies in providing sage guidance where these different practice areas intersect. In his practice, Bill has represented a vast array of commercial interests, from Fortune 100 companies to small and mid-sized businesses. He provides counsel to clients in a wide range of legal matters including real estate, development, business, commercial, telecommunications, environmental, solar development, cannabis and legislative affairs. Through Bill’s Real Estate practice, he represents his clients in a wide array of matters including land acquisition, development, financing, construction, leasing and sale, issuance of commercial loans, workouts and foreclosures.  He counsels builders and contractors regarding construction disputes, lien claims and general construction matters; he creates and administers residential and commercial condominiums and other common interest ownership developments.

Searle E. Mitnick, Esq.

Since 1969, Searle has gained a regional reputation providing legal counsel to real estate and business clients, including commercial real estate developers, residential apartment owners, parties in syndications, and borrowers and lenders in loan transactions and workouts. He has formed entities such as partnerships, limited liability companies, and corporations that own and operate real estate and other businesses, and he has handled major leasing transactions representing landlords and tenants in office buildings and retail centers. Searle's experience includes handling matters involving bond financing and mortgage insurance and/or subsidies from HUD and agencies of the State of Maryland.
